Who benefits from the Senior Behavioral Medicine
Unit?
Depression, anxiety, and confusion are not "normal" symptoms of aging. They are debilitating conditions that threaten your
well being, your relationships with friends and family, as well as your independence. Recognizing that something is wrong and seeking treatment is so very important. Advances in care, new medications, and the latest knowledge about brain chemistry have made it possible to diagnose and treat problems more quickly and effectively than in the
past.
If you or your loved one, age 55 or older suffers from problems related to your mood, thoughts or behaviors that cannot be safely or effectively treated outside of the hospital, you could benefit from the Senior Behavioral Medicine
Program.
Unique Features
Our programs are specifically designed for and dedicated to the care of Senior Adults. Family involvement and comprehensive after-care planning are hallmarks of our treatment
philosophy. Our location within a comprehensive medical center makes it possible for us to care for patients who have complex medical as well as psychiatric problems. In fact, your own medical
doctor may work along with your Psychiatrist so that all aspects of your care are fully
coordinated.
In addition to your psychiatrist and medical doctors, your treatment is provided by other qualified caring mental health professionals, including registered nurses, clinical social workers, psychologists, activity therapists and care
partners.
